  • Read architectural and structural blueprints, drawings and sketches
  • Take measurements, calculate the size and amount of material needed and cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material
  • Understand requirements of major trades at rough in and finishing stages (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, millwork, interior finish)
  • Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
  • Finishing work such as installing interior and exterior trim
  • Ability to work with exposed timbers
  • Attend meetings with Site Supervisor and Project manager to stay informed on project progression
  • Build scaffolding and other construction structures (i.e. Setting forms for concrete construction)
  • Engage in proper tool maintenance and report any damages, misuse or lost/stolen tools
  • Complete post-construction repairs and maintenance, as required

TEMP: WDC Carpenter

The team is launching an awesome new build in Cheakamus building brand new WHA housing, and YOU could be a part of it.   • DATES: Shifts available on Weekdays on an ongoing basis
  • HOURS: 8am-4.30pm
  • LOCATION: Whistler
  • DUTIES: Assisting with traditional carpentry duties, including framing, finishing, general labour and basic construction duties at a job site, and pitching in where needed.
  • WAGES: $27-$42/hr + 4% vacation pay
    • Whistler Personnel uses a progressive pay system that awards pay increases based on the number of Successful Shifts completed. The more you work with us, the more you get paid per hour! HIGHER WAGES are also available for Red Seal Certified painters or Team Leads, and many shifts include extra bonuses per hour. All wages also include 4% vacation pay. Ask us for more details!
    • *Initial shifts will be used to verify qualifications.

POSITION: Junior Carpenters (1-2 years specialized exp)

  • SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Must have basic carpentry and/or drywalling/trades experience (1-2 years experience) and experience with hand and power tools. Physically fit, mobile and able to work on your feet for the duration of the shift. Friendly, hard-working and happy to pitch in where needed.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Steel toed or sturdy work boots. Work gloves and basic hand tools recommended.
  • WAGE: $27-$31/hr + 4% vacation pay
    • Proby (Tier 1) = $27/hr to start
    • Regular (Tier2) = $29/hr after 10 Successful Shifts
    • Hero (Tier 3) = $31/hr after 20 Successful Shifts

POSITION: Skilled Carpenters (3+ years exp)
  • SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Must have 3+ years carpentry and/or drywalling/trades and hand tools experience. Physically fit, mobile and able to work on your feet for the duration of the shift. Friendly, hard-working and happy to pitch in where needed.

POSITION: Senior Carpenters (6+ years exp)
  • SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Must have solid specialized skills as well as prior lead hand or supervisory experience. Prior experience at renovations and ability to read plans also very beneficial. Trustworthy and hardworking. Physically fit, mobile and able to lift heavy loads from time to time (up to 50lbs). Friendly, hard-working and happy to pitch in where needed.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Steel toed or sturdy work boots, work gloves and basic hand tools required. Own hand tools required.
  • WAGE: $38-$42/hr + 4% vacation pay
    • Proby (Tier 1) = $38/ hr to start
    • Regular (Tier2) = $40/hr after 10 Successful Shifts

  • Install architectural curtain wall system, skylights, sliding doors, and other window systems according to specifications and building codes.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and work orders.
  • Work as part of a team to execute daily tasks on site.
  • Assist in shop to produce components as required.
  • Execute work to a high level of detail, adhering to quality control standards and standard operating procedures.
  • Complete tasks and corresponding paperwork for accurate information flow.

WAGES:

Whistler Personnel uses a progressive pay system that awards pay increases based on number of Successful Shifts completed.  The more you work with us, the more you get paid per hour.

GENERAL LABOURERS with Steel-Toed Boots:

  • Tier 1 = $21/hr to start plus 4% vacation pay
  • Tier 2 = $22/hr after 5 successful shifts plus 4% vacation pay
  • Tier 3 = $23/hr after 10 successful shifts plus 4% vacation pay

We are recruiting  for a general all around carpenter and an experienced labourer to join a local construction company specializing in the building and renovation of high-end residential homes for the summer and potentially long term.  Ideally suited to a Journeyman / Journeywoman, however we would also love to hear from carpenters / apprentices with a minimum of two years of experience.

  • Erect temporary structures to facilitate construction of buildings.

Labourer and Carpentry Duties also include:

  • Assist with general carpentry and construction tasks on job sites.
  • Cut materials with hand and power tools, and assemble or nail, cut and shape parts.
  • Be neat in appearance and workmanship.
  • Be knowledgeable and able to implement safety procedures according to company and WorkSafe BC guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe worksite.
