• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent) required.
• 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing or industrialization engineering, preferably in rail, transportation, or heavy industrial environments.

• Experience supporting shop-floor execution and resolving production issues.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities Include: 

The Site Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for translating engineering designs into efficient, safe, and repeatable manufacturing and refurbishment processes.  This role bridges engineering, shop operations, quality, and project teams to ensure work is executed efficiently, consistently, and in compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.

• Define work instructions, routings, and process steps for shop execution.
• Translate engineering drawings into clear, buildable shop documentation.
• Develop manufacturing, assembly, and refurbishment methods for rolling stock and components.
• Coordinate with design, systems, and structural engineers to ensure manufacturability.
• Define tooling, fixtures, jigs, and equipment requirements.
• Support industrialization of new products, modifications, and refurbishment programs.
• Work directly with shop teams to validate methods and resolve production issues.
• Identify and eliminate inefficiencies, rework drivers, and bottlenecks.
• Support first-article builds, pilots, and process validation.
• Support design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) initiatives.
• Ensure processes comply with quality requirements, WPS, inspection plans, and standards.
• Support non-conformance resolution and corrective actions.
• Support production planning, sequencing, and capacity considerations.
• Contribute to cost estimates, labour hours, and productivity assumptions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Standardize methods and capture best practices for repeat programs.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and process standards.
• Support training of shop personnel on new or revised methods.
• Ensure documentation remains current and aligned with engineering changes.

Responsibilities Include: 

The Industrial Painter is responsible for surface preparation, application of industrial coatings, and ultra high-quality finishing of rail vehicles and components in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. This role supports refurbishment, repair, and new build programs for passenger and freight rolling stock.

• Perform surface preparation activities including cleaning, degreasing, sanding, grinding, masking, and abrasive blasting as required.
• Inspect surfaces for defects, corrosion, or damage and report issues prior to coating application.
• Ensure surfaces meet required preparation standards before painting.
• Apply industrial paints and coatings using spray equipment, rollers, and brushes as required.
• Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
• Apply primers, intermediate coats, and topcoats to specified thickness and finish requirements.
• Perform touch-ups and repairs to existing coatings as required.
• Ensure coating work meets specified thickness, adhesion, and finish quality standards.
• Support inspections and quality checks, including visual inspection and coating thickness measurement.
• Identify and correct defects such as runs, sags, holidays, or incomplete coverage.
• Complete coating and production documentation accurately and on time.
• Follow all safety procedures related to coatings, chemicals, ventilation, and PPE.

The General Labourer (Rail Shop) provides hands-on support to shop operations, assisting mechanics, electricians, welders, and supervisors with day-to-day tasks.  This role helps keep the shop organized, safe, and productive by supporting material handling, basic tasks, cleanup, and general assistance across multiple trades.

• Assist trades personnel (mechanics, electricians, welders) with non-specialized tasks.
• Move materials, tools, and equipment within the shop and warehouse.
