PRIDE: Event Hosts and Crew

Join in on one of Whistler’s most exciting and extravagant parties:  Whistler PRIDE and SKI Festival.  Born as Gay Ski Week over 30 years ago, it’s a  celebration of diversity and acceptance attended by men and women from over 26 nations.  And a celebration it is!!   Pool parties, a comedy night and the notorious SNOWBALL…  it’s a week packed full of fun that welcomes EVERYONE!

Event Hosts,  Crew, Ushers, Bartenders and Ticket Takers

  • Duties: Assist with a variety of tasks as needed including ticket collection, event setup, bartending, décor, event entry, venue preparations, coat check, stage hands, crow control and customer service.
  • Qualifications:  Friendly, outgoing and eager to help and willing to pitch in where needed.  Physically fit and able to lift heavy loads and be on your feet for long periods.
  • Scheduling Notes: Preference will be given to workers who are available for multiple shifts. Shift times may vary and are expected to be between 2-6 hours long.

  • HOURS:  Shifts generally will last between 2-8 hours and last minute changes happen.  A 2 hour call out minimum will  be paid for last minute cancellations.

Wages:

Whistler Personnel uses a progressive pay system that awards pay increases based on number of Successful Shifts completed.    The more you work with us, the more you get paid per hour!  After you complete 10 probationary shifts, you get a $2/hr wage bump – then you get another bump after 20 shifts for being a HERO!

The  Audain Art Museum is accepting applications for the Events & Sales Coordinator, Maternity Leave contract from January 2025 to March of 2026.

The position is responsible for contracting and executing third-party facility rentals, supporting Museum events, along with implementing and tracking sales initiatives.

SALARY / WAGE RANGE:
  • $28.00 to $30.00 per hour based on experience.

ABOUT
THE COMPANY:
  • Become an integral part of the Audain Art Museum, a 56,000 square foot institution in Whistler, British Columbia. The Audain Art Museum (AAM) provides a home to a Permanent Collection, which arcs across over two hundred years of art production in BC.
  • Among the highlights of this unique holding are historic Indigenous carvings, bronzes by Bill Reid and James Hart, the paintings of Emily Carr, and photo-based work by Rodney Graham, Vikky Alexander and Stan Douglas. The AAM also hosts Special Exhibitions from across Canada and around the world.
THE PERFECT
CANDIDATE:
  • The ideal candidate will have previously demonstrated success in event planning and client relations:
    • College diploma in a related service industry discipline and at least one year of relevant work experience are desirable.
    • Ability to manage and deliver against multiple competing priorities and work well under pressure excellent time management, problem solving, and analytical skills.
    • Comfortable working a flexible schedule to accommodate event coverage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
INCLUDE:
  •  Effectively communicate the Museum’s offerings to potential clients with knowledge of reservation policies, deposits, fees, room capacities, food and beverage options, ticketing, security, gallery tours, audio-visual, cancellation requirements, etc.
  • Manage communication with all internal departments and assigned vendors, including, caterers, contractors and equipment providers to ensure efficient and successful outcomes.
  • Facilitate the execution of both internal events and third-party facility rental bookings including weddings and corporate events.
  • Act as event lead for each event, including set up and tear down.

TEMP: Event Labourers

January and February is BUSY for events and trade shows – and everyone needs event labourers, so get amongst it!

The FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championship and U23 Cross-Country World Ski Championship will take place at Whistler Olympic Park from Jan – Feb 2023, and we are looking for Event Labourers to assist with the set up and takedown before and after this incredible event. We also have shifts available in Whistler for the ICSC Conference, organized each year by the International Council of Shopping Centers, and for Whistler Pride at the end of January!

Events such as this would not be possible without the help of so many people to help set up and ensure the event runs smoothly. Come and be a part of something amazing and earn up to $29/hour, PLUS overtime rates and a carpool allowance for many shifts!

POSITION: Event Installation & Takedown Crew – Callaghan Valley & Pemberton 

  • DATES: Install daily from January 14th – 26th, takedown daily from February 5th – 12th.
  • TIMES: 8:30am-5:30pm. Overtime rates are applicable if the shifts run over 8 paid hours!
  • LOCATION: Olympic Park in the Callaghan Valley, and Pemberton.
  • DUTIES INCLUDE: Helping with the install and takedown for this large project located at Whistler Olympic Park in the beautiful Callaghan Valley. Various duties include setting up and taking down tents, flooring and mats, furniture, pipes & drapes, packing, cleaning and pitching in where needed. Heavy lifting is involved.
  • SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Physically fit, mobile and able to lift heavy loads. Friendly, hard-working and happy to pitch in where needed.
  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS: STEEL-TOED BOOTS or sturdy work boots depending on the shift.
  • BONUS: Employees driving to their shift are eligible for $5 a head for each additional person they can carpool per day.
  • Additional shifts are also available at the Company warehouse in Pemberton on various dates!

POSITION: Event Installation Crew – Whistler

  • DATES: January 21st, 22nd and 24th.
  • TIMES: Various AM and PM shifts available. Some shifts are 10 hours, so overtime rates are applicable if the shifts run over 8 paid hours!
  • LOCATION: Fairmont Chateau, Whistler.
  • DUTIES INCLUDE: Helping to unload / load and setup/takedown of equipment, booths and furniture for a trades show. Some shifts require the operation of pallet/power jacks in tight spaces, and pitching in where needed.
  • SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Experience using power/pallet jacks is required for select shifts, but not all. Physically fit, mobile and able to lift heavy loads. Friendly, hard-working and happy to pitch in where needed.
  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS: STEEL-TOED BOOTS are required.
  • BONUS: Earn an additional $2/hr if you have pallet/power jack experience!

Whistler Film Festival Opportunities

Whistler Film Festival is Canada’s ‘coolest’ film festival – Every December it screens  many world premieres and the hottest films and attracts up to 20,000 attendees annually including 1,000+ industry insiders and celebrities.  And the very BEST way to experience the WFF is to work it!

The Perfect Candidate: 

  • Previous experience in food and beverage, specifically in banquets or hotels is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional time management, prioritization and organizational skills.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships. Is respectful and takes into consideration all unique perspectives.
  • Takes initiative and has a positive approach.
  • Able to communicate effectively with event team, manager, planners, vendors and guests.
  • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended length of time.
  • Food Safe and Serving It Right training preferred.
  • Experience with bar tending and alcohol inventory is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Squamish Nation or Lil’wat Nation or First Nation Culture is an asset.
  • Able to work a varied and flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Clear criminal background check.

Responsibilities Include: 

Operations

  • Assist and coordinate team for set up and timely tear down, event service delivery and clearing.
  • Greets, welcomes and positively interacts with guests to facilitate event beyond expectations.
  • Liaise with Chef, planners, vendors, and partners prior and during to facilitate s successful event.
  • Maintains professional and clean appearance of room, tables, chairs, linens, tableware and décor.
  • Supports the team for the event, making sure each team member has the required information.
  • Tends to guest’ requests, questions and complaints.
  • Assist the Event Manager to carry out duties as delegated.
  • Familiar with WorkSafe BC, health and safety practices and COVID-19 requirements as per the Public Health Officer.

People Leadership

  • Supervises a small, knowledgeable event team.
  • Collaborate with Event Manager to successfully facilitate an event in their absence.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on events.
