Whistler Personnel uses a progressive pay system that awards pay increases based on number of Successful Shifts completed. The more you work with us, the more you get paid per hour! After you complete 10 probationary shifts, you get a $2/hr wage bump – then you get another bump after 20 shifts for being a HERO!

MINIMUM BASE WAGES—no experience needed:

  • Proby (Tier 1) = $20hr to start plus 4% vacation pay
  • Regular (Tier2) = $22/hr after 10 Successful Shifts

As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, audit coordination, and internal control development.   You will work closely with Executive Leadership, Project Managers, and Operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, disciplined project accounting, and strong governance practices.

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
  • Prepare and review financial statements (ASPE / IFRS as applicable).

You will be the “Source of Truth” for our financial health, overseeing the tech stack (PMS, QuickBooks Online, AP solution, RBC Express) that keeps our data flowing and our owners happy.

Trust Accounting & Owner Statements

  • The “Monthly Close”: Lead the end-to-end reconciliation of guest payments, cleaning fees, and maintenance charges across 150 properties.
  • 3-Way Reconciliation: Execute the monthly 3-way reconciliation (Bank vs. PMS vs. QuickBooks) and resolve any discrepancies personally.
  • Homeowner Billing: You will supervise the Staff Accountant in the execution of daily AP/AR postings and Trust Accounting administration, ensuring data integrity across all property-level ledgers.
  • Statement Integrity: Prepare homeowner statements and monthly payouts in coordination with the reservations, operations and owner relations teams, ensuring that all vendor invoices and management fees are accurately applied.

Operating Accounting

  • Full-Cycle G/L Management: Own the QuickBooks Online environment for the management company, including AP/AR, bank feeds, and journal entries.
  • Revenue Recognition: Execute the transfer of earned commissions and fees from the Trust to the Operating account.
  • Payroll & HR: Oversee payroll processing for our field team (housekeeping and maintenance) and manage workers’ comp/benefits administration.
  • Financial Statements: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports and statements ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian accounting standards.
  • Budgeting: Partner with the CEO to develop annual budgets and provide monthly “Budget vs. Actual” variance reporting.
  • Monitor cash flow and maintain appropriate controls for financial health and stability.

You will be responsible for accounting and related administrative work including recording and tracking accounting information, performing reconciliations, processing accounts payable, preparing invoices, and preparing financial statements and periodic reports.

SCHEDULE
DETAILS:

THE PERFECT
CANDIDATE:
  • Minimum of four years of accounting experience is preferred, including full cycle accounting experience.
  • Relevant post-secondary education in accounting, finance or a related field and/or completion of
    courses in a recognized accounting program.
  • Thorough knowledge of bookkeeping and the ability to recognize and follow up anomalies promptly.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and to plan, prioritize, organize and implement work
    schedules to meet strict deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze data and present results in a standard format.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience in using Sage, Payworks, Club Prophet, Adobe+ an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES
INCLUDE:
  • Complete and manage accounting activities to ensure that financial processes and information are
    accurate, timely and contain adequate internal controls
  • Maintain accounting records (including but not limited to preparing deposits, journal entries and
    cheques, coding and posting invoices, preparing various account reconciliations).
  • Liaise with Corporate Accounting Team as necessary.
  •  Full cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Process employee timesheets and complete all payroll functions (hourly & salaried staff).
  • Complete monthly bank and ledger reconciliations.
  • Maintain up-to-date, complete and systematic filing system to support book-keeping and financial
    records.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and annual budget.
  •  Monitor operating performance and spending levels against approved budgets and communicate
    potential budget shortfalls or cost overruns to management and Corporate Accounting Team

Accounts Payable / Finance Coordinator (Maternity Leave Coverage)

Looking for an Accounts Payable / Finance Coordinator to support the organization’s financial and administrative processes for the provision of, complete and  accurate financial information, timely payments and receipts, and relevant reporting.

About the Role, Benefits & Perks:

  • Part-time around 30 to 50 hours per month.
  • Flexible scheduling based on candidates needs & availability.

  • Cloud based storage such as OneDrive, Dropbox or Sharepoint.
  • Business online banking.
  • Online filing such as GST, WCB, CRA.
  • Online payroll processing such as Ceridian or ADP.
  • Understanding of basic payroll processing.
  • Follows specific processes and internal controls.
  • Works towards scheduled timeframes with indirect supervision.
  • Keeps required information confidential.
  • Personal computer hardware and operating system that is not used by other individuals.
  • Internet service.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Reporting to the Finance and Accounting Manager, the bookkeeper works closely with the Chief Operating  Officer and Site Superintendent.
  • Posting and filing of approved supplier invoices.
  • Monthly and ad hoc payment processing.
  • Complete and file statutory reporting for GST, WCB, T5018.
  • Monthly account reconciliations for bank, prepaid expenses, contractor holdbacks AR and AP.
  • Posting and filing of customer progress draw invoices.
  • Reconciliation and posting or real estate sales.
  • Posting general journal entries.
  • Maintain computerized accounting records and digital copies of related invoices, contracts, and related documents.
  • Create and securely store a weekly backup of electronic accounting data.
  • Respond to internal inquiries related to financial transactions, reports and supporting documentation.
  • Liaise with financial departments of suppliers and customers.
