Now hiring a  Site Supervisor (on tools)  for the dual responsibility of working  as a Lead Carpenter while implementing the project schedule, maintaining construction site operations and supervising site personnel.

Working alongside the Project Manager, the Site Supervisor ensures the project completes to the company’s standards of build quality, project accountability, client service and safety.   This role requires a highly motivated and experienced carpenter with proven project organization skills, strong leadership qualities, and the ability to work effectively with limited supervision while exercising sound independent judgment.

Offering a wage in the range of $45- $50 per hour, with a year round schedule and full benefits. 

About the Role, Benefits & Perks:  

  • Wages: $45-$50 per hour based on experience.
  • Location: Whistler
  • Job Status:  Permanent full-time
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday – 40 hours/week – 8hrs/day
    • Extended hours and/or weekend work may be required at times to maintain project schedule
  • Eligible for the extended benefits package after 3 months of full-time

The Perfect Candidate: 

  •  Red Seal Carpenter certificate (or equivalent) with proven experience in custom residential construction and/or commercial construction ($1-$5 million)
  • Previous experience in a leadership role with excellent communication skills and ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure.
  • Strong knowledge of current provincial and municipal building codes standards and regulations.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Outlook and Excel, and familiarity with MS Project.
  • Demonstrated history of on-time and within-budget construction.
  • Proven success at taking ownership for one’s responsibilities and delivering outcomes within the defined timeframe.
  • Physically fit to meet demands of job and capable of work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Performs duties as the Lead Carpenter – actively engaged in hands-on framing, finish and general carpentry work.
  • Leads/directs site personnel – assigns work and takes responsibility for their performance.
  • Brings personnel problems to the attention of Operations Manager; makes written reports where appropriate.
  •  Directs trade contractors.
  • Assists in resolving layout and trade coordination problems ensuring performance according to contract terms and reports problems to the PM.
  •  Attend meetings with Project Manager and consultant/client/trade.
  • Reads/interprets project plans and specifications. Identifies and reports problem to PM.
  • Assists PM in developing a scope of work for tendering purposes and for the issuance of Purchase Orders.
  • Identifies items to be detailed in Change Orders or to be back-charged to trades.
  • Liaise with Municipal officials.
  • In conjunction with the PM, monitors project budget and advises on potential cost overruns and cost savings.
  • Provides clarification for PM to approve job cost invoices.
  • Ensures all deliveries to site have been verified for accuracy in quantity and measurement and notes all quality problems prior to signing delivery slip.
  •  Orders site supplies and rental tools as required.
  • Tracks company tool use via tracking software.
  • Records daily site report. Takes photographic records of job progress.
  • Provides time records to PM or completes timesheets with PM’s approval, tracking work against change orders or back charge items as required.
  • Prepares hit lists/deficiency lists.
  • Provides leadership to site personnel and contributes to a positive and respectful workplace culture.
  • Maintains workplace health and safety; performs safety talks.
