A well known Whistler group who promotes and delivers literary arts programs in the Sea to Sky Corridor is looking for a Program Coordinator to join their diverse team.   This is a work-from-home, contract position that allows for a flexible schedule plus the opportunity to meet some of the best writers and authors in Canada!  Ideally suited for those with strong administrative and organizational skills plus some experience in bookkeeping.

The Perfect Candidate: 

  • 2 – 3 years working in an events-based organization, arts or non-profit sectors is preferred.
  • Administrative skills plus bookkeeping and marketing experience is an asset.
  • Well developed skills in planning, executing, documenting and evaluating
    projects and events.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a broad range of people; able to build and maintain positive working relationships; very people-oriented and personable.
  • Strong editing and writing skills.
  • High attention to detail with excellent time management capabilities; work well under pressure and can meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Google docs, Zoom, Mailchimp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WordPress, photo & video assets, Quickbooks or SAGE knowledge.
  • Passion for the arts, writing, reading.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Work closely with the Artistic Director to deliver the four main literary
    programs of the Society.
  • Administrative tasks include:
    • assisting with grant writing and reporting;
    • author outreach and communications;
    • developing the festival program and guest welcome package;
    • event organization;
    • travel and volunteer coordination and;
    • program management and coordinating audience surveys.
  • Communication tasks include:
    • working with the graphic designer to determine graphics direction and needs;
    • program writing, editing and asset coordination;
    • coordinating volunteer leaders for book review writing and author blogs;
    • print material collateral coordination (signage, bookmarks, posters);
    • writing and editing newsletters;
    • conducting targeted outreach to schools, libraries, book clubs;
    • website updates;
    • connecting with partners and stakeholders;
    • coordinating contesting campaigns and
    • surveying audiences post-festival; reporting/debrief post-festival on various activities.
  • Bookkeeping (busy season is September/October and July): managing AR/AP, reporting remittances and assisting with year-end preparation.
  • Help implement new bookkeeping processes and transition to a new bookkeeping software.
  • Other tasks as needed.
