We have several clients with projects dotted throughout the Sea to Sky region who are currently seeking Senior Carpenters and Experienced Apprentices. Ideal for experienced carpenters just looking for side gigs OR experienced carpenters looking for full time work with a great crew all winter or for the remainder of the season! Starting ASAP.
About the Roles:
- Full time, year-round hours, seasonal work or temp work (your choice).
- Wages and benefit plan are based on experience and negotiable.
- Job sites vary throughout the sea to sky region
The Perfect Candidate:
- Senior Carpenters with over 5 years experience and journeyman papers are preferred.
- Apprentices with at least 3 years of experience as a carpenter plus some formal training are also encouraged to apply.
- Solid ability to use tools, practice worksite safety and work with minimal supervision.
- Friendly and helpful attitude, able to take ownership of tasks.
- Hard working team player who will pitch in where needed to get the job done.
- Physically capable and able to work all day on the move, hauling materials and heavy loads.
- Be neat in appearance and workmanship.
- Be knowledgeable and able to implement safety procedures according to company and WorkSafeBC guidelines.
- Must have valid driver’s license and transportation to the site.
- Must have own steel toed boots, work belt, safety glasses and ear protection plus basic hand tools.
Duties / Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with the basic construction of residential and commercial projects.
- Read plans and specifications to determine the materials required, dimensions and installation processes.
- Build floors and wall frameworks and roof structures.
- Construct form work into which concrete is poured.
- Includes carpentry, framing, rough-ins, finishing work, siding, demolitions, shop work, installations, using tools and equipment.
- Erect temporary structures to facilitate construction of buildings.
- Install windows, sashes and doors.
- Cut materials with hand and power tools, and assemble or nail, cut and shape parts.
- Instructing and supervising carpenter assistants and labourers (Carpenter).
- Assisting with manual labour and general construction duties as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe worksite.
WORKER WAGES: $24 – $37 /hour
Whistler Personnel uses a progressive pay system that awards pay increases based on number of Successful Shifts completed. The more you work with us, the more you get paid per hour!
- JUNIOR TRADES / PAINTERS / CARPENTERS / DRYWALLERS:
- Tier 1 – $24/hour to start plus 4% vacation pay
- Tier 2 – $25/hr after 5 Successful Shifts plus 4% vacation pay
- Tier 3 – $26/hr after 10 Successful Shifts plus 4% vacation pay
- SKILLED TRADES / PAINTERS / CARPENTERS / DRYWALLERS:
- Tier 1 – $28/hour to start plus 4% vacation pay
- Tier 2 – $29/hr after 5 Successful Shifts plus 4% vacation pay
- Tier 3 – $30/hr after 10 Successful Shifts plus 4% vacation pay
- SENIOR CERTIFIED TRADES (Red Seal) 5+ years experience:
- Tier 1 – $35-$38/hour to start plus 4% vacation pay
- Tier 2 = $36-$39/hr after 5 Successful Shifts plus 4% vacation pay
- Tier 3 = $37-$40/hr after 10 Successful Shifts plus 4% vacation pay
- Must have own PPE (steel toed boots, hard hat, work gloves), basic hand tools and provide proof of certification.
- Successful Shifts = be on time, work hard and make our clients happy!
- All previous shifts worked in any position with WPS count towards a higher Tier for all future shifts.
