We have an opening for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper with a local non-profit school. The ideal candidate be ready to take responsibility for the school’s full-cycle accounting operations including accounts receivable and payable, payroll administration, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and support for budgeting and strategic financial planning. Offers a flexible schedule including opportunities to work from home and school holidays off.
About the Role:
- Full-time, around 30 hrs per week, in Whistler, BC.
- Maternity Leave Coverage: August 24th 2026 to July 2027.
- About 30-40 hours of training to be provided in July 2026 (can be all remote and flexible dates & hours).
- Schedule follows the school year and is flexible – with opportunities to work from home a few times a week.
- Enjoy all school holidays, stats and breaks off.
- Wage range $30 – $33 per hour plus 4.5% vacation pay.

The Perfect Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field an asset.
- Minimum 3+ years experience in a bookkeeping role ideal; non-profit or school experience is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and payroll practices; bookkeeping certification is required.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial and personnel information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and accounting (QuickBooks) and payroll software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and a calm, professional demeanor.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative working relationships.
Responsibilities Include:
- Keep day-to-day finances running smoothly, including payables, receivables, and journal entries.
- Maintain accurate, well-organized financial records and digital files.
- Support families by managing tuition invoicing, payments, and account inquiries with care and clarity.
- Administer and support school initiatives, including fundraising, donations, and student activities.
- Process payroll and benefits, administer new hires and support staff through employment changes.
- Reconcile accounts and ensure everything is accurate and up to date
- Prepare monthly financial reports and help monitor budgets.
- Work closely with leadership to support annual budgeting and financial planning and reporting.
- Complete required government filings, grants, and compliance reporting.
- Assist with audits and contribute to strong, transparent financial practices.
- Support HR administration by keeping employee records organized and up to date.
