TEMP: Transition House Support Worker

A new women’s transition house located in Lil’Wat Nation is looking for temporary support workers for day and evening shifts.  Very flexible with part-time, full-time or casual shifts available.  This is a great opportunity to ‘try before you buy’ as they are also looking for long-term workers to join their fantastic team.

  • DATES: Shifts available 7 days per week.
  • HOURS: Daytime shift: 7am to 3pm; Overnight shift: 3pm to 11pm.
  • LOCATION: Mount Currie, BC
  • DUTIES:  Maintain general upkeep of the building and cleaning, assisting residents with services within the house (ie: kitchen, laundry, unloading food), refer clients to other social services or assist them in locating and utilizing community resources, transportation to and from appointments, assist with intake process and reports for new residents, perform other related duties as required.
  • SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:  Experience and background in similar roles within the social services industry is an asset but not required.  Empathetic and caring nature, patient, positive, personable and gets along with others easily.  Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively manage conflict situations. Able to work well independently with limited supervision.  Strong organizational & multi-tasking skills, meticulous attention to detail, and time management skills.   Knowledge of systemic issues that may affect families facing domestic violence issues is an asset. First Aid, WHMIS preferred.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check is required before the first shift.
  • WAGES: $22 to 27/hr + 4% vacation pay
    • $2 Overnight Bonus on all evening shifts.
    • Whistler Personnel uses a progressive pay system that awards pay increases based on the number of Successful Shifts completed. The more you work with us, the more you get paid per hour! HIGHER WAGES are also available for Red Seal Certified painters or Team Leads, and many shifts include extra bonuses per hour. All wages also include 4% vacation pay. Ask us for more details!

  • WAGE:  Support Worker (1 year or less experience) $22-26/hr + 4% vacation pay plus $2/hr overnight bonus for evening shifts.
    • Proby (Tier 1) = $22/hr to start
    • Regular (Tier2) = $24/hr after 10 Successful Shifts
    • Hero (Tier 3) = $26/hr after 20 Successful Shifts
  • WAGE:  Support Worker (1 to 2+ years experience) $23-27/hr + 4% vacation pay plus $2/hr overnight bonus for evening shifts.
    • Proby (Tier 1) = $23/hr to start
    • Regular (Tier2) = $25/hr after 10 Successful Shifts

Overnight Support Worker

Zero Ceiling, a non-profit organization who is dedicated to transforming the lives of young people who have experienced homelessness, is looking for an Overnight Support Worker to join their team.  Offering casual, part-time or full-time hours based on availability, $23 per hour and a health and wellness package for full-time employees.

About the Role, Benefits & Perks: 

  • Full-time (36 hrs/week), Part-time (12-24 hrs/week) Casual hours are available.
  • Overnight shifts – 6PM to 6AM.
  • Salary: $23/hr

  • Facilitate conflict resolution with program participants.
  • Provide supervision to ensure drugs and alcohol are not being used in the house.
  • Provide as needed assistance to participants.
  • Facilitate a cleaning routine for participants.
  • Demonstrate cleaning techniques and assist when necessary.
  • Ensure cleanliness of house and staff unit.
  • Take garbage and recycling to transfer station.
  • Complete program reporting and regularly update case management system (CAMS).
  • Communicate and strategize with support team.

Seeking a compassionate, relationship-centered leader to manage the Work 2 Live and Adventure Sessions programs.  As Program Manager, you will lead and supervise a team of youth workers who deliver comprehensive support services for young adults aged 19-25, including housing, employment, mental health, and land-based recreation.

Offering $56,000 to $58,500 per year plus extended health and wellness benefits and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the Sea to Sky’s Youth!

  • Advocate for young adults in the workplace and community.
  • Continually reflect on and develop the Work 2 Live program.
