A local Japanese grocery store and casual eatery has an opening for a Cashier to join their great team!   This front line customer service job is ideally suited for someone with great customer service skills who wants to enjoy their days in our amazing backyard.  It’s daytime and evening shifts with some flexibility.   No prior experience necessary – a great opportunity for someone wanting to gain work experience in a great team environment.

About the Role:

  • Flexible schedule.
  • Full time is preferred but part time is also available.
  • Base wage around $14 per hour + tips and staff meals.
  • Negotiable based on experience with plenty opportunity to grow.

The Perfect Candidate:

  • Friendly and patient with customers.
  • Basic math and basic computer skills – comfortable learning a new POS system.
  • Previous experience in a store is an asset but not required.
  • Trustworthy – a criminal background check will be required.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, motivation and ability to work in a very busy environment

Responsibilities Include:

  • Greet customers with a smile and assisting with their needs.
  • Operate the cash register and other equipment as required.
  • Receive and process payments by cash, credit card or automatic debit.
  • Calculate total payments received at end of work shift and reconcile with total sales.
  • Stock shelves and clean check-out counter area.
  • Order, price and display merchandise as required.
  • Attend and participate in training sessions, and department meetings as directed.
  • Ensuring that the store is kept tidy and well stocked (indoors and out).  Includes dusting, sweeping, and mopping in the store.
  • Working independently and solving issues in a responsible manner as they arise.
  • Other miscellaneous tasks on an as-needed basis.
